Mark your calendars for these great events coming up!
For the last Sunday in 2024, please join Rev. Evin Wilkins and Bedford Hines in our beloved Burning Bowl ceremony. The ceremony is about shifting consciousness. It’s about becoming still, naming what you want to release, and letting...it...go.
One Room Classroom
During times of lower enrollment, Unity of Appleton’s Children's Spirituality program provides spiritual guidance in one combined classroom. We provide a highly interactive curriculum which is designed for kids in 4k through elementary school age.
Little children are always welcome to stay in the sanctuary with their families, but if you and your kiddo need a change of scenery, head downstairs to the Parent and Child Break room. While we do not have nursery care at this time, we do have a space for little ones and their grownup to play, relax or have a diaper change.
The Sunday lessons begin with children sharing their emotions; then they have a meditation and do a little yoga together. Next the children hear a story and/or the Daily Word and discuss the spiritual lessons it contains. The children then participate in a creative activity, a craft or a game that allows them to express and experience the lesson on a personal level.
CLASSROOM GUIDELINES
Schedule & Registration - Spiritual education is offered downstairs during our 10am service. Registration forms are required for each student and are available at the Children's Spirituality Program sign-in table or request one by email at unity@unityofappleton.org
Sacred Safety - Our teachers, volunteers, and assistants are all background screened, guided by Sacred Safety protocols, such as having 2 adults with the children at all times.
Arrival & Departure - To ensure the maximum safety for the children, a parent/guardian is required to sign the child into the classroom.
Please drop your child off by 10 am. This allows them to:
Be greeted and welcomed by their teacher.
Engage in a pre-session activity.
Participate from the beginning of the experience.
For health and safety reasons, the children will remain in the classroom until their parent or guardian picks them up. We ask that you get your child(ren) as soon as possible after the service has ended. This allows our teachers and assistants to attend to post-class responsibilities.
Toys & Electronic Devices - We ask that you leave toys at home or in the car. Our children are busy with the day’s spiritual exploration and toys distract them from the program and group building experiences.
Recuperation Policy - If a child is working through a health challenge, he/she will have difficulty participating in class and needs the caring attention and healing atmosphere of their home. This also protects other children from possible exposure.
